ABS sister company, Oilfield Instrumentation (OI), which provides real-time drilling instrumentation and harsh environment laboratories, announced the hiring of oil and gas exploration industry veteran Scott Deaton for Houston area sales. Deaton will primarily represent the the custom buildings division, which produces MWD buildings, mud laboratories, kit boxes, and specialty engineering labs, in addition to ABS's steel accommodation buildings (company man, command center, living quarters, and safety trailers). He will also promote OI’s drilling instrumentation products and services when applicable.
OI President Peyton Reddick commented: “I am very pleased that Scott has joined our team. His previous experience makes him particularly suited to helping upstream companies determine their oilfield building needs. And as a customer of Oilfield Instrumentation in the past, it’s a high compliment to OI that he has chosen to represent the quality of our products and services to industry peers.
Deaton’s work with previous employers Schlumberger and Smith Bits included such positions as MWD/LWD operator and coordinator, and directional drilling coordinator. Deaton was introduced to Oilfield Instrumentation’s buildings and service in the field through his work for Pathfinder, a division of Schlumberger, years ago in Conway, Arkansas. It was this experience with OI that helped persuade Deaton to join the company.
Deaton is a Marine Corps veteran who started his oilfield career 18 years ago performing maintenance duties. He’s worked his way through the ranks at various service companies, eventually achieving managerial rank.
